Top 5 Tips to take care of your Handbag

Your Handbag Deserves Some Love

So you have spent a bomb on a designer handbag and you want it to last for years to come. Many women consider handbags to be an investment for the long run. A handbag has become an essential part of a woman’s overall look. It is not just about style or arm candy, it is more of keeping all the essentials like wallet, sunglasses, make up kit, house keys etc.
Just like we take care of our valuables a handbag can last a lifetime only if it is taken care of properly.

Separate Storage

Allocate a space in your room exclusively for your handbags. It could be a closet shelf or a purse insert. Use a dust bag cover to store your handbag, if you don’t have one, then a pillowcase will do. Avoid keeping your handbags in plastic bags especially if it is a leather handbag, as all the moisture drains out making the leather dry.

Clean on a need basis

Never wash your handbag in a washing machine. Spot clean your handbag by focusing on small patches at a time to erase those stains. Remember a leather handbag needs extra care and at any cost don’t use water on real leather. You can use disposable wipes on canvas handbags but use the wipes only on affected areas.

Follow instructions

Handbags usually come with instructions for care and to disregard these instructions is a grave mistake.  A leather handbag needs a daily wipe with a soft dry cloth to maintain the appearance of the leather. Leather handbags need a customized cleaner specially made for leather, to remove any dust or dirt.

Don’t overload

This is a no brainer, don’t overload stuff into your handbag, more then what is required. If you dump each and everything into your handbag then it may lose its initial shape. Take what is necessary to store in your handbag and regularly check if there are any unwanted accessories.

Don’t underestimate the power of a bag liner

When you have spent your hard earned cash on a handbag you must make the effort to take care of your bag especially the interiors. Invest in a bag liner to avoid any ugly stains or spills inside the bag.
